Can anybody guess whats in the center of this picture?
If you couldn't figure it out. Thats the Taj Mahal seen from above ... way above, actually. And this is a satelltie image from Google Earth. There is a new digital past-time thats becoming popular called Google Sightseeing - finding out interesting places on the surface of the earth using Google Earth and sharing the pics. Google keeps updating the satellite imagery and the most recent update has hi-res pictures of most cities in India and more around the world (Sydney's Opera House). You can download Google Earth and use it for free. A lot of this imagery is also available in Google's Online Maps if you click on the Satellite imagery control. But zooming and flying around in Google Earth is a whole different experience.
Here's Mumbai's Gateway of India
And this is my house in Bangur Nagar, Goregaon, Mumbai..
The WPI Campus and its surroundings
So, go ahead, download Google Earth and have fun sight-seeing - Google Style!!!
